In a continued effort to strengthen industry–academia collaboration in the field of radio frequency (RF) and millimetre-wave technologies, Sanko, together with its official partner Aseptec, recently conducted a series of technical sharing and product demonstration sessions at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
The sessions brought together PhD researchers, lecturers, and academic experts for hands-on discussions and live demonstrations on advanced RF measurement techniques, focusing particularly on vector network analysis and real-world applications of high-frequency measurement instruments in research and engineering.
⚙️ Product Highlights
🔸 BNA1000 ベクトルネットワークアナライザ (VNA)
Serving as the centrepiece of the demonstrations, the BNA1000 showcased its ability to deliver laboratory-grade accuracy in a compact, portable form factor. Participants explored its full S-parameter measurement capabilities (S11, S21, S12, S22), along with its use in antenna characterisation, filter tuning, and amplifier testing. Its versatility across both research labs and field environments was particularly praised by UTeM’s microwave research group for enabling greater flexibility in academic projects and prototype validation.
🔸 SH Spectrum Analyzer
The SH Spectrum Analyzer was featured in both bench-top and drone-mounted configurations, illustrating how Angle of Arrival (AoA) measurements can be leveraged for signal source localisation, interference detection, and millimetre-wave frequency analysis. The drone integration drew strong interest from postgraduate researchers working on wireless communication and UAV-based RF mapping projects.
🔸 GH Signal Generator
Recognised as the world’s smallest handheld signal generator, the GH model was demonstrated for its broad modulation capabilities and high-frequency output, making it ideal for testing, calibration, and research simulations. Its portability and ease of use make it especially useful for field researchers and lab instructors who require reliable and flexible signal sources.
🔸 SK Series RF Tools
Complementing the demonstrations were Sanko’s SK Series portable RF tools, designed for on-site calibration, verification, and system performance testing. These tools are engineered to deliver robust performance under demanding conditions, ensuring consistent and accurate results wherever measurements are needed.
💡 Discussion Highlights
Throughout the sessions, lively exchanges took place on:
- The practical application of vector network analysis in millimetre-wave component research and material characterisation.
- The integration of drone-based RF systems for environmental sensing and signal monitoring.
- Emerging collaboration opportunities between universities and industry partners in developing next-generation RF and communication systems.
Researchers shared ongoing projects in 5G, radar systems, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), sparking conversations about potential joint initiatives and student training programs.
Sanko, and Aseptec expressed their appreciation to the faculty members and research teams of UTeM and UTHM for their warm reception, active participation, and insightful discussions. The sessions underscored a shared commitment to advancing RF education, research, and innovation across Malaysia’s growing engineering ecosystem.
At Sanko, we remain dedicated to empowering researchers, engineers, and educators with precise, portable, and intelligent RF solutions. With the BNA1000 Vector Network Analyzer at the forefront, we aim to make high-performance measurement technology more accessible to both academia and industry, driving forward the future of RF and millimetre-wave research.
